Michael was admitted as a solicitor in 1999 and has over a decade of experience in strata law, including management rights, body corporate work, strata development and structuring. In July 2011 Michael was appointed Property and Strata Services Partner, and currently manages a team of 10. He splits his week between our Brisbane and Mooloolaba Offices.

Michael has a Masters Degree including study of parliamentary law and practice, dispute resolution and planning and environment law. To further develop his expertise in the field of strata and property development, Michael completed a Graduate Diploma of Urban and Regional Planning in 2007.

In 2011 Michael was made a fellow of the Australian College of Community Association Lawyers, the professional college for lawyers practicing within the area of strata title or community management law in Australia. His work on developer’s fiduciary obligations has recently been published in the Australian Property Law Journal.

Michael is currently the Chairman of the Strata Communities Australia (Queensland) Legislative Committee, which is proactively working towards reform of Queensland’s strata legislation. Michael is also a member of the Public Policy committee of Strata Communities Australia, which undertakes the same work at a federal level. Strata Communities Australia was formerly known as the Community Titles Institute of Queensland.

Michael’s expertise means we confidently offer a full range of legal services to the Strata Sector including:

• New or revised By-laws, Community Management Statements or Building Management Statements;
• Dispute resolution, commercial litigation and levy / debt recovery;
• Drafting or amending Service, Caretaking or Letting Agreements;
Advising on Letting Appointments, PAMDA or Management Investments compliance;
• Assignment or grant of Management Rights;
• Adjusting Lot boundaries, incorporating or excluding property from a Community Titles Scheme;
• Amalgamating Lots or Schemes; and
• Terminating Community Titles Schemes.
